Arctic Sleep Hygiene

Life at the 65th latitude is a little different than the lower 48. Near 24 hours of sunlight in the summer and near constant darkness in the winter can create difficulty maintaining a healthy sleep pattern. But there are simple and sustainable solutions that fit within the Army lifestyle. If it's not sustainable it won't happen. The goal of this class is to arm Soldiers with go-to strategies and approachable habit change in order to sleep to live, not live to sleep.

Operationalize Stress

Arctic Soldiers train and fight through some of the toughest conditions in Army. It's no secret that the adverse weather, being away from family, and high expectations, can contribute to significant amounts of stress. In this class, the goal is to educate Soldiers about the physical mechanism of the stress response and how it effects health, wellbeing, and resiliency. Once armed with this understanding, Soldiers are educated in practical stress management strategies that maximize grit and resiliency.

Pain Education

Many Soldiers experience injuries that require months of recovery. This class educates Soldiers about the factors that influence chronic pain and reviews treatment options to maximize function. Soldiers will learn the purpose of pain and how the body processes it. Focus is placed on how Soldiers can navigate the Army military system to get the most benefit from treatments and return to function. The target population for this class are Soldiers that deal with chronic pain due to an injury or any other ailment.

Running Improvement

Every Soldier wants to run better. Whether the goal is improve ACFT 2MR time or stop the nagging pain that comes with running, this class will benefit you. The material provides Soldiers and Leaders techniques that will improve the efficiency of running and reduce injuries.  Classroom instruction is paired with practical exercises and video feedback showing each individual the changes they need to make.  Class may be held in Hangar 1 or at the COF during PRT hours or throughout the day based on the needs of the squad, platoon, or company.

Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) Class

This class is designed for Soldiers who fail height and weight and are placed in the ABCP. Soldiers will learn basic weight management skills, including general healthy diet principles, portion control, serving sizes, and building balanced meals. Soldiers will receive a signed memorandum that they return to their Company Commanders. Although this is directed at Soldiers in the ABCP, any Soldier is welcome to attend.

This class happens twice a month - the first and third Thursday at 0930.
